Fibre 2 Upgrade - Slower Speed

Hi all,

I have just upgraded to BT Fibre 2 from an old Fibre subscription which had 6 months left.  For the extra £2 a month and a guaranteed 45mbps I thought why not!  Previously only maxing out at 36mbps (YES less than the 38mbps guarantee).

So on 1st October the activation took place.  Since then my speeds have crashed.  Maxing out 26mbps now.  BT Engineer will visit in two weeks which isn't great.  They are saying it looks like crossed wires???  Nothing in my house has changed apart from clicking 'change subscription'.

Has anyone else had a similar issue and any advice?  If this doesn't work out I'll just cancel my contract.

Thanks a lot,

Alex.

Re: Fibre 2 Upgrade - Slower Speed

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the stats from your router (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser) and if  HH5 then go to troubleshooting then helpdesk and if HH6/SH2 then advanced settings then technical log information .

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

have you tried connecting to test socket with a filter to see if that improves your connection speed

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

Re: Fibre 2 Upgrade - Slower Speed

I have connected to the test socket and the speeds are still 26mbps. So that confirms nothing is wrong with my internal wiring. I suspect it's the hub or an issue at BT's end since making the switch.

Re: Fibre 2 Upgrade - Slower Speed

even your attainable is only 32mb and with your attenuation you are a long way from the cabinet - which conflicts with the dslchecker results which shows speed range 80/60mb

can you connect to test socket and post new stats   was it your number repeated on quiet line test
