Full fibre - battery unit has fault light on

Go to solution

I have a full-fibre service at home, I have a white rectangular modem that the fibre connects to that connects to the BT Hub, there is also a battery backup (I assume that is what it is) that connects to the modem.

This has three LEDS, Status (GREEN), Fault (lit RED) and Charging (Off)

The service is working fine so am unsure if this is a fault that should be reported

Any ideas if I should report this, or should it be picked up by Openreach ?

You don’t actually need the BBU and Openreach have stopped supplying them.

It was only ever to provide a Power Back Up for the Fibre Voice Access Service in the event of a Power Cut.

Just unplug the BBU from the ONT and plug the Power Cable directly into the ONT.

Many thanks, I'll do that when I get home. I recently went from voice over the old copper line to digital voice on the smart hub, so I dont think the voice ports on the modem would ever have been used anyway. If the power goes out then the hub goes with it so voice would fail anyway. Fortunately I am only a few hundred metres away from a cell tower so I always have a good mobile signal
