Help with this wiring I found.

Hi, I've just been doing some decorating and took a junction box off the wall that had a blanking plate on. Inside are two cables joined together, with a bunch not connected to anything..  Photo of cables: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10xTprb2ip51t6WFQmgp82J6frgaDapjk/view?usp=drivesd

One of the connected cables runs from the telephone pole in the street and the other runs down the outside wall, into my front room to the master socket.

My questions are..

Is this the correct wiring BT currently use as there's so many internal cables not being used.

Can this cause slower broadband speeds? As we are currently getting lower than average speeds for my area.

Can this be changed so that the wiring comes straight from the street to the master socket? If so, is this something I can do at home or is a BT engineer required?

Cheers,

Tom.

Re: Help with this wiring I found.

Its absolutely perfectly normal, only 2 wires are required the others are spare. It will have no bearing on your speed whatsoever.

No, it can't be changed.

The answer is the same regardless of who your provider is.
