My understanding (albeit old) was that they're different multicast streams from different sources, going via different encoders. Could be wrong - there's no-one around at the moment to check with.
Either way, we still have all the other streams needed to support other BT TV platforms. These won't be needed anymore, as Now TV stream their channels from their infrastructure in their app instead.

You said that the NowTV streams are "different multicast streams" - can you confirm that they are still miulticast, as opposed to unicast?

Channels accessed from the TV Guide are multicast. When accessed via the Now TV app they're unicast (ABR).

just got a phone call from BT trying to convince me to go onto the new package
of course not offering me a refund for lsot channels
i asked how much to get an equivalent package to what i currently have .. was told £29.99 .. so £5.50 more than i am currently paying and £12.50 more than i was paying in November
shame on you BT
