Hub resetting
Hi Guys,
Hopefully somebody will be able to help or provide a suggestion that can help resolve my issue.
Last week, driving around, being Dad's taxi etc, i noticed a fair few openreach vans at the local green boxes. Since Monday, whenever an outside call comes to my landline and i either dont answer, or the answer machine kicks in, when the call ends, my HUB looks to reset, therefor i lose my internet connect.
The workmen may be coincidental, but ive had no issues in the previous months, this only started happening from this Monday.
Have the latest HUB, fast fibre etc, and the phones themselves are BT 3950 twin model. Not had an issue until this past Monday, and, working from home, which i have to do, as well as home schooling is now becoming difficult due to the constant barrage of cold callers and internet drop out issues.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated 🙂
Thanks for reading.

Re: Hub resetting
if your hub is dropping connection when you make or receive call then there is probably a high resistance fault and need to be reported to 150 as phone fault not broadband

Its the Number 6 version Keith.
I assume that both your phone and home hub are plugged into this socket?
Its quite possible that there is a bad connection within the interconnecting sections, its not unknown.
You need to make sure that the problem is not caused by something in your house, to avoid a possible £85 visit charge.
What you need to do next, is to check at the test socket.
If you look at the picture below, you will see a number of sections. You need to take it apart to access the "real" test socket which is behind the filter plate, on the left of my picture, you will also need a microfilter.
Here is the layout of the socket.
Once you get access to that socket, you need to connect things up as shown below.
Leave it connected as shown below, and see if you still get the disconnects when the phone rings.

Re: Hub resetting
Thanks for taking the time to provide this guide Keith. I started taking it apart, but have to admit i got cold feet.
I contacted BT and discussed it with them, they are not going to charge me for the call out as it wasnt too long ago it was istalled and an engineer is booked for Friday morning.
