Hybrid Connect - I am impressed! What am I missing?

I signed up to BT Fibre 900 with Hybrid, kit arrived next day, plugged it in and already I have twice the speed just by it using the Hybrid connect EE connection.

Can't fault it.

What am I missing? It's not the cheapest but I am willing to pay for what already seems to be a great service and product.

Wondering how reliable BT's FTTP is, compared to their FTTC. And whilst I get the fact that the Hybrid EE will only failover after a couple of minutes it does give me that reassurance that I will have 'some' internet access should the worst happen.

Just wondering if it's all too good to be true?

Same for me. Except, over 4G, my connection is over 4x what I had with fttc.

After testing it. I've just unplugged mine, I'll plug it back in if required.

Touching wood here but I've yet to have a single drop out since going fttp.

Fantastic, hope mine is the same. A couple of years ago I did try and achieve the same setting it all up myself with the added headache of combining the lines into one router in a load balance type way. It worked but with some massive head aches (sessions don't work over two separate lines of course, which is fine for per session connections but if they ever switch you get stopped for potential MITM attacks - the same would happen with the Hybrid, but it's a failover so to be expected).

So the Hybrid seems a great compromise, if you can call 900Mb broadband a compromose 🙂

Do you get the reported download speeds, ie: 900?

I do get those speeds, but not many sites can send you data that fast!

It's meant to provide multiple users, in the same household, with great bandwidth. No more complaints from the Mrs because she can't watch Netflix because you're watching live football. That sort of thing.
Of course, you need a hardwired LAN at home to really benefit. I cabled my whole home some years ago, I'm really glad I did.
Make your family members aware that they'll get much reduced speeds over WiFi. Unless you splash out on your own WiFi 6 kit but even then, I'd much prefer hardwired connections!

Good luck with it, if you decide to go with it. I'm pretty glad I did. It's a complete, night and day, transformation, from what we had on fttc. Heck, the included fall-over solution is too! So talk about win - win.

Brilliant thanks Ted. It’s installed tomorrow, Weds, so we’ll see. I use the mains LAN system (1gb) which gives me pretty good connectivity so I should be all good. And he the Hybrid is almost good enough in itself.
