I Just Ordered A New Package – How To Cancel Engineer ?

Hi

I am moving into my first rented flat tomorrow and after ordering a BT broadband package, they gave me an option to choose a date for an engineer to come over next year in January. My package does not include a phone line.

Why do they come over?

The flat I am renting may have a broadband cable already installed. Please tell me how I can cancel this appointment?

Just because you're not having a landline doesn't mean no engineer will be required they may well need to check there is a working line to the property for the broadband. What length were the slots given? If they were 8-1 or 1-6 then that's openreach & will be required

I'm not sure what you mean by slots but the closest appointment date they gave me was for 5/1/22 between 8 am-1 pm.

I am moving into a rented property tomorrow and they advertised for an average broadband speed on the rental site. I don't need an engineer to install external cables if they already have a plug point for it.

Do I need to cancel them if I can simply set up the box myself?

Are you sure they've not got a broadband agreement with a specific provider then? The 8-1 slot will be for an openreach engineer to attend & ensure the line is connected for the broadband to work

Just leave it, you will just complicate matters if you try to cancel the appointment

May is the key word here, either way when the order was raised there wasn't enough info to do a non-appointed provision, it was determind an engineer was required and booked.

Let the enginner do their job, trying to alter or cancel it can posibly break your oder and delay things further, on the day the engineer might find no visit needed but until then it is required.
