I haven't turned on the youview box in a while and don't have an aerial connected. Was ITV hub ever on the box or was it removed as it is not showing up on app screen.
It's on there. Try updating running a software update and also an update for the apps

I've done as you asked. It's says everything is up to date. Software and apps. Restarted the box and tried again. Same thing unfortunately.
It could be ITV hub being a **bleep** then because it can't detect your local area. Try it with an aerial plugged in. The ITV hub is a very poor piece of software at the best of times and the free version is even worse. . it's almost as if ITV are making the free version as bad as possible so that you subscribe to the premium version .
If you initially set up your Youview box without a functioning aerial connection then Youview would not load the ITV Hub. That also aplies if you perform a Full Factory Reset on your box as you have to go through the set up process afterwards.
After that you should be able to disconnect your aerial if you wish and you will retain the player.
