Looking for a router that is BT compatible

Hello,

We're looking for a high end router that is BT compatible, we've noticed that some are not and tbh no idea which are and which aren't

Can anyone recommend a good one?  Looking at TP-Link or Netgear or any other reputable brand.

Thank you

@JaywR10

What type of connection do you have?  It's its regular Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) you need to look for a VDSL compatible modem/router.

Kind Regards

Re: Looking for a router that is BT compatible

I have a Netgear X6 R8000 Nighthawk connected directly to the Openreach ONT. Works well!

TP-Link, whichever model suits your needs.

@JaywR10

Depends on your budget,

here are DSL Modems & Routers | TP-Link United Kingdom (tp-link.com) and Gateways | Telco | Service Providers | NETGEAR

Personally I use a Fritz!Box 7530.  Had no issues so far.

This one is very popular, and works with all BT services including BT TV.

If you only want 2.4GHz then there is a cheaper option.

I've been using the VR400 above for quite a few years now with no problems at all. (FTTC)

Re: Looking for a router that is BT compatible

I personally used a Draytek Vigor 130 VDSL modem (which is guaranteed by Draytek to work with the BT connection) and a separate Nighthawk R7800 Router, connecting them together via the routers WAN port.
It has been more stable than the BT home hub (that one kept rebooting and finally started crashing when the sun came out).
However, I have also just switched to BT mini disks rather than use the routers Wifi because a mesh wifi system is so much more convenient and the BT mini disks are really good value. If I had gone this way initially, I would probably have chosen the Vigour modem with a Ubiquiti Edgerouter X with the Mini discs
