BT are sending me an advanced phone as i am going VoIP soon. Has anyone tried using a old dect phone plugged into the hub and link a new advanced phone wirelessly as well.

There should not be an issue with this, however the BT Digital Voice phones use DECT and not wifi, and there is a DECT base station within the Smart Hub 2, so you may get a loss of performance as they might interfere with each other, unless your DECT base unit is situated well away from the home hub.
