Modem router combo

I have a BT Smart Hub 2 which is connected to a Huawei 1-port modem (Huawai echolife hg8110h-20). Does my Smart Hub need to be connected to the modem or can I plug the fibre cable directly into the router? If not is there a product that I compatible with my set up that can act as both the modem and router?

No, you can only use the optical modem supplied, as its registered on the network,

You can however use your own router and connect that to the optical modem.
