My house built 1993 still has Copper wires out to Fibre Connection in the Road?junction box..Outreach Engineer checked my Broadband Speed yesterday [after I had complained about speed dropping]20mbs when im paying for Minimum of 32Mbs?I asked him when Outreach would be replacing the Copper Cable with Fiber to the House,he said that Ducted Roads would probably be first. Finally I havea very old internal Masterbox with no backplate and no test facility.
1 ..Would BT Charge me to replace this with the latest NTE5c VDSL Masterbox and Backplate,or 2 ..Could I buy one from Amazon £14.99 and fit it myself,or would it be best to wait until Openreach replace the Copper Cable? Any help appreciated as I can live with the slower spped for a while! Michael
While you are not meant to change the master socket unless you caused a catastrophic problem nobody would be any the wiser. If Openreach do it for you it will cost you about £85 or more.
You will have a long wait for Fibre to the Premises to be made available at your property unless it has already been decided to upgrade your area.
You could email Openreach and ask them if there is a plan for it to happen anytime soon.

are you a BT broadband customer? if so
please can you post the stats from your router (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser) and if HH5 then go to troubleshooting then helpdesk and if HH6/SH2 then advanced settings then technical log information .
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
enter your phone number and post results remember to delete number https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
Thank you,I have filled in The Form as you suggested and sent it to them
if you are not a BT Retail customer then the forum cannot help you and you need to post on Plusnet forum
