NAD Key

Hi,

Have bought a new self build property.

The property has been registered with the Post Office by the sellers for a few months now and they also advised that Openreach is available to the property just need to go with whichever provider we choose.

We get the keys next week and im trying to arrange BT Fibre Broadband.

I spoke to BT on the phone Yesterday and they said we can see your address, we can see that the telegraph pole outside your address has Fibre but need a "NAD Key " to give to Openreach.

Who do i need to speak to, to get the NAD Key? Would love to get Broadband installed.

Thanks in advance.

@Ross1687

Have you actually placed an order with BT Retail yet, as you need to have an active order?

Re: NAD Key

Hi Keith,

No not yet, there isn't a phoneline into the property yet BUT the telegraph pole is right outside our property and the house next door (Who have a phone line, fibre broadband & who are also the sellers of our new property) I didn't get that far as to order anything as we were stalled at the first hurdle of a NAD Key but don't know who to contact to obtain it.

Thanks for your help.

Re: NAD Key

Then as its not got any routing and designated as bronze.

You would need to follow the process for ordering a new phone line first. Once that has been provided, then the Openreach database will be updated and you will be able to see what broadband options are available to you.

Place an order for a line only using this link - https://www.bt.com/landline/deals

If the address doesn't appear properly when you enter the postcode, there is a section underneath where you can manually enter the address.  This will raise the order with the address showing as bronze and it will prompt Openreach to carry out a survey to confirm the routing.   Once the routing is updated the order will then progress as normal.  You can then add broadband once you have the line up and running.

Its possible that FTTC is available, provided the cabinet is not full. Otherwise you would have to accept standard broadband.

You do not pay any more that way, as the broadband cost includes the "line" rental. You do not have to select a calls package unless you plan to use the phone line to make a lot of calls.

The online ordering process is normally the best way.

Re: NAD Key

Oh ok, I did have a look at the link you supplied and thought, we don't particularly want a landline.

Cheers Keith

You need the line to provide the broadband, even if you do not use the phone. Just select the PAYG option which is 20p a minute.

You won`t pay any more once you add broadband later, as the broadband package includes the line rental.

If there had been a physical line to the property, you would have been able to place an order for broadband right away. As there is no routing built, then that has to be dealt with by Openreach.

Hopefully there will be space on the pole, so it will just be a case of running a drop wire, and then doing the internal cabling to install a master socket.
