New Customer

Evening all.

I am a Virgin customer atm but I am getting BT Fibre installed next week.

Happy to move away from DOCSIS and Intel Puma issues.

I plan to use my existing Netgear R8000 as a router directly connected to the ONT so I don't need to reconfigure my LAN.

I have some stuff which I need help, I need an IPv4 address. Do BT supply IPv6 addresses now?

I need an IPv4 address because I use dynamic DNS to update my A records.

Does having an IPv6 address affect gaming?

Thanks

Re: New Customer

You will get both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, both dynamic.

The PPPoE details for your router are the generic username bthomehub@btbroadband.com and password BT

Re: New Customer

Thank you, do you know of any DNS providers which support Dynamic AAAA record updates?

Re: New Customer

Loving my full fibre 900, here is a BQM I have setup for my Full Fibre connection

It looks much better than when I was using Virgin Media.

I am currently using my own router (Nighthawk R8000), would I get better latency with a router with more cores?

Thanks
