Automatic Compensation wouldn't happen until the issue is resolved, it's done in one go and applied automatically, typically 5-10 working days after the fault is confirmed fixed.
You also stated in your original post "that will maybe not be fixed until the 16th of October 2020" so BT won't be updating you daily if you have an estimated fix, no harm in calling them, they are open until 9pm if you want to ask for an update.
