Do I have to keep my NowTV account linked to my BTTV, in order to carry on watching the Big sports package?

The first thing to remember is that BT TV is a 24 month contract. Otherwise, looking at the Now TV website, you cannot view the BT sport channels with a Now TV pass.
I'm open to correction should I be wrong

Yes you will, the Big Sports package includes all 11 Sky Sports channels.
