Old BT Minimaster 3 in a renovation property - can this be removed or relocated?

Hello,

We are in the process of renovating a property. We have uncovered what looks like and old BT Telecom Minimaster3. I assume all of this telecom equipment is obsolete? Is this propety of BT? do I need to call BT to remove or can I remove it myself, plus any legacy cabling connected to it? We have now installed BT broadband with Digital Voice. The engineer (not from the Minimaster3 generation) informed us that it is a telecom exchange for our block/neighbourhood and we would need to contact BT to have it removed, which sounds odd to me. Is this the case?  I would be grateful for any advice. Many thanks!

Not really my area, but if it’s simply a 2 line 10 extension PBX ( private branch exchange ) that’s not in use , it could be BT Property but  it’s pretty ancient  and  they wouldn’t want it back anyway,  or it could have been bought outright by a previous occupant , either way I would think it’s OK to remove it and and ‘recycle’ it the appropriate way, presumably the building previously housed a business that no longer operates out of there.

Many of the minimasters were own by the customers, as you already now have BB service hopefully it is not utilising any of the minimasters wiring.

Suggest you advertise it on that well known Internet auction site, it is a sought after system among vintage phone collectors who use it for loop dis to MF4 conversion
