Packet loss on route to various places

Hi there,

I'm seeing a lot of packet loss on the route my connection has been given.

It appears that 31.55.186.197 is where the packet loss is happening, I'm showing about 50-60% packet loss from that hop.

I hope this helps, I'd really like to get this sorted as soon as possible.

Thanks.

There is nothing to sort out. You are not suffering any packet loss.

Re: Packet loss on route to various places

Isn't some packet loss part and parcel of tcp/ip

Especially in the congestion control algorithm

Re: Packet loss on route to various places

Isn't this line;
 4. 31.55.186.197                    56.3%    42    5.5   5.1   4.5   5.8   0.4
showing 56.3% loss?

What is this if not?

Re: Packet loss on route to various places

If those packets were lost how did the destination get them all?

All you are seeing is a router treating ICMP requests as low priority and not replying in the alloted time. The packets were still passed on to the next router.

Re: Packet loss on route to various places

@pippincp

I thought AMID used it to control the congestion window ?

Or more, to detect and control

Been a very long time since college so I have a lot of packet loss myself 🙂
