I am going to be moving into an area serviced only via the openreach network. When I first looked at broabband speeds there was up to 66mb/s available in my area (standard top openreach speed from my understanding). However, checking now the top speed is 16mb/s and according to a rep I spoke to from another company this was due to the phone switch connection limit being reached for the broadband speeds.
I've checked with pretty much every other network provider in existance and none seem to be planning to install in the area I'm moving to (which is surpring as it's a fairly sized town). Anyway the point of this ramble was to ask if more slots pening on the exchange is entirely based on other people cancelling their broadband or if there were likely to be more slots opening on the exchange through upgrades etc?
Basically is 16mb/s likely to be my only option for the foreseeable future?

if cabinet full then you are waiting for a cancellation to be able to get fibre broadband

Actual speeds experienced by end users and quoted by CPs will be lower due to a number of factors within and external to BT's network, Communication Providers' networks and within customer premises.
The Stop Sale date for IPstream is from 31 Oct 2012. The Formal Retirement date for IPstream is from 30 Jun 2014.
In order to be eligible for handback, downstream speed should be less than Downstream Handback Threshold values.

Fibre 2 should be available from BT Retail, that is up to 80Mbs connection speed.
A line will be provided as part of the order, but a phone connection will be optional.

If you still have issues with the address, then try the following.
Place an order for a line only using this link - https://www.bt.com/landline/deals
If the address doesn't appear properly when you enter the postcode, there is a section underneath where you can manually enter the address. This will raise the order with the address showing as bronze and it will prompt Openreach to carry out a survey to confirm the routing. Once the routing is updated the order will then progress as normal. You can then add broadband once you have the line up and running.
