Premium & Whole Home Wi-Fi 6 SGAB/C208228 Early Adopter Release now live

SGAB208228 and SGAC208228 has been made available for early adopter as of 17th September 2021.

Changes since SGAC208224:

Fixed occasional primary disc random reboots

System stability improvements

Important Upgrade Advice for Premium Whole Home Wifi Customers:-

You will need to first update your discs to SGAB208224 before having access to any further updates, including this Early Adopter release.

General upgrade advice:

  • After the update, we recommend you leave your discs for a few hours to allow them to settle into their configuration
  • During this time your Wi-Fi connection will be working fine, but you may see lights turning orange and blue and short drops in connection.  If this happens we recommend not moving your discs or adjusting any settings
  • When your network has settled, you may also notice that the disc layout displayed on the App is different or that your devices connect to a different disc – this is completely normal
  • If you have good internet connection on all your devices, your Whole Home Wi-Fi is working properly so there should be no need to change its layout or network configuration

To enable early adopter you can now use the app – see “Beta programme” on the settings menu.  Otherwise it can be enabled via the web interface on the Firmware Update page.

If the new firmware is not working as you’d like, try powering off/on all the discs at the socket and allow them to reconnect and settle.  If you still need help afterwards, come back to us, here on Community, or contact the Helpdesk on 0808 100 6116 or email btconnectedhome@bt.com so that we understand your issue and help fix it.

Thanks
DanielS

Offered me the update, went through installing firmware (red bar completed) discs still remain on SGAB208224, cleared browser cache and checked checked again still showing an update and still on old firmware.

Second time it went through and updated correctly 3 discs now showing SGAB208228.

Recommend people reboot before updating i had uptime of 6 days.

Just noted Primary disc is not the Uplink Disc i reported this issue previously.

It seems to be working really nicely.

Now all I have to do is find a way around the Smart Hub 2's infuriating reboots that cause the primary disk to reboot and take a day to completely sort itself out. A DSL resync is not a problem, it's the 5 minute full reboot requested by BT via TR69 that screws things up. At the moment I'm using a Zyxel VMG3925-B10c router that is rock solid and immune to BT's reboot requests, but I can't get Ipv6 working. The answer may be to get a BT Smart Hub 2 FTTP with the WAN port and use the Zyxel in bridge mode as a modem.

Hi @tonyw1

Thanks for your feedback.

Can you confirm that you still have problems when your Smart Hub 2 reboots, even on the latest firmware SGAB208228? This is not something we've had reported before so keen to understand what might be happening for you so we can address it.

I haven't got the Smart Hub connected, but you can probably simulate it by unplugging the ethernet cable from the first primary disc for four or five minutes, which is about how long the Smart Hub is off line during a reboot.

I applied this on the day of release and did a network reset the day after (to ensure it had settled ok).

Master disc stayed up for 4 days then rebooted.  It is now back to rebooting a couple of times a day.

This morning I have tried clearing the data usage in case something was filling up the device memory but just a few moments ago it rebooted again.  I had the same in 208224.
