Questions about Whole Home Wi-FiW

Hello folks,

So I live in a townhouse and have my main BT hub on the 1st (middle) floor but have a wi-fi weak spot in my home office on the 2nd (top) floor.  Based on their all singing all dancing TV advert I thought BT 'Whole Home Wi-Fi' Booster Discs would be the answer.  The discs arrived today (two disc set) and I was surprised to see that the first disc has to be connected to my existing hub via an ethernet cable.  The instructions only guide you to set it up via ethernet and I did try connecting the hub to the first disc via the WPS buttons but without success.   So the first white disc is sat next to the black hub and looks **bleep**!

I've positioned the second new disc in my office upstairs and connected that up OK but the associated phone app tells me I'm only getting a good connection on this disc.  The 'connection' on the disc downstairs comes up as excellent on the app which I would expect seeing as it's sat next to the hub and connected via an ethernet cable!

Then connecting the work PC in my office to the new network, pages on the internet don't seem to load any quicker than the old set up and the wifi signal icon on my PV waivers between 3 and 5 bars, which is the same as before.

At the moment it feels like I've just wasted £99.99.

I also didn't realise that the booster discs effectively run as a separate network and the app is telling me to connect all my devices to it, but they all run fine on the old network.

In a word, HELP!!!!!!!!!!
