Like a lot of people I'm working from home. I've hard-wired everything, event so, and on teams / zoom I have random freezes and zoom will sometimes tell me helpfully that my internet connection is unstable.
The various ping / tracert calls are all telling me the issue is between my computer and the BT Home Hub 5 (Type A)

To convince myself it's a hub issue, I've plugged my machine directly into the hub and disconnected *everything* else, and the results can be seem below. To reiterate: This is the ping down a single cat6 ethernet cable direct into the HUB, with nothing else connected (wireless disabled). At the time of writing, the HUB has been up for 9 days.

The ping lags are typically up to 2000ms with no packet loss.
The results are unaffected by restarting or resetting the HUB, the pinging machine type (same issue on the wife's Mac, my linux server, son's laptop) - so I think the issue has to be with the HUB itself?
The only other possibility I can think of is I'm the subject of the lamest Denial of Service attack ever, which randomly denies my service for about 2000ms every 30 seconds or so 😛
Any bright ideas? At this point I'm about to throw my hands up and spend the £70 on a newer shinier router (VR400 seems to get good reviews despite being a bit long in the tooth) to see if that will make a difference.
