There can be several circumstances which might affect recordings.
If you can provide some examples of the Programmes and channels you are experiencing the problems with it would help to narrow down the more likely causes.
Generally a weak or lost signal on Freeview channels can lead to potential failed recordings. For the BT sucbsription channels the quality of the broadband stream and the performance of any power line adapters being used are factors.
Changes to schedules and/or accuracy of the broadcaster data in the EPG(guide) can also cause issues.
