Whenever I reset my router or the connection is briefly disconnected it can take anything up to 5 minutes to reconnect. Is this normal?
This only started when I moved to BT fibre. Before, when I had been on regular broadband with other providers it would take only seconds to connect. So is this just how fibre works, or is something wrong (or bad) with the Smart Hub?
Hi @LukasD,
Thank you for posting. I don't think there is anything wrong with your router. Whenever I need to restart my Hub it would take around 5 min to reconnect (not that I've timed it).
When the router restarts it has to re-establish a connection with the network and then needs to authenticate the connection. That does take a few min and isn't an instant process. It also depends on the reason why your connection has dropped. If its because of interference on the line, the reconnection process could take longer as the communication between the hub and the network could be interrupted.
Restarting your hub often isn't recommended as those disconnection can be perceived as instability and regular disconnection could result in your connection being slow in order to try and improve stability.
Thanks
Paddy
Why do you need to reset the router?
