Same floor in same building less speed on offer

I recently moved into a new flat, I asked our neighbours for advice on broadband, 2 neighbours on the same floor said they had 100-150mb with BT. We just had openreach come around to set up the line, now BT are still telling us we can only get 8-16mb. How can this be? There's no difference between the flats, its a new building all our cables go to the same cabinet. Any tips on how to push for this?

Check the availability here as it's possible the cabinet might be full and there's a waiting list.

Did you need to get a phone line installed? Are you on digital voice kr did you select broadband only so no ability to make receive calls?

Use your address in link @TimCurtis  posted as phone number may not work.  If new line you start with standard broadband and once installed if better connection available you can upgrade

What is the FTTP on demand that shows as available in the grid yet in the text below it says FTTP is not available?

FTTP On Demand is something you can order and pay for the full cost of installation which includes any groundwork and will run into thousands.

Obviously you see now why you can't get Fibre as there's a waiting list unfortunately.

You will have to accept ADSL, its quite fast enough for most people. Once there are spare connections in the cabinet, you can upgrade to FTTC.

@cotsy2  If the neighbours are enjoying 100 to 150mbs, they must be on GFast but, even so, there's waiting list for this as well. FTTC (Fibre to the cabinet) can only provide up to 80mbs.
