Settings for Router/Modem combination

Go to solution
Hello,

After upgrading from "Broadband Unlimited" to "Fibre 1" (FTTC), I'm happy with the speed,
however I don't trust the Smart Hub 2 regarding Wi-Fi: I opted out and I don't want it –
nevertheless it turned itself on after the upgrade, which I only noticed accidentally.

To avoid this in the future, I'm using my old wired (and very reliable) Billion BiPAC 7800 Router
(Gigabit Ethernet Switch, FTTH multi-service gateway, E-WAN port for VDSL or Fiber modems)
in conjunction with an old BT Openreach VDSL Fibre Modem (ECI) from eBay.

I changed the router settings to:
• EWAN
• PPPoE
• password = bt

Which other settings should I optimise?
Please see 2 screenshots below (WAN & Firewall), but there are also other settings...

Many thanks!

Thanks for your answer "VLAN 101". Where/how should I use this?

Thanks, so that's it.  What does this "101" do?

It's the ID of the VLAN.

Thank you. I'm not familiar with VLAN details. Without this setting (nothing entered) it seems to work –

so what could happen if I would let it as it is, resp. what would it improve if I would enter "101"?

If it works don't try to fix it.
