I have read that your broadband is slow for a few days after your router is restarted. As I am experiencing regular power cuts lately, one a week, then this means I seem to be always in slow internet mode. I have a HomeHub 6 and my contract is up soon.
1. Is there any solution to this?
2. Would a new contract and Smart Hub be any better or just the same?
3. Would this be the same for all other suppliers using Openreach?
All advice appreciated.

after a power cut I would expect my connection to connect at same speed after connection as it was before provided there is no line noise and was only 1 cut in power

also check quiet line test - unless you have digital voice
The BT hub is not slower after a restart, what does slow your broadband down is repeated restarts or repeated power outages. This cause DLM, Dynamic Line Management, to react as though there is a fault on your line and as such it lowers the speed to try and maintain a stable connection.
DLM is an automated process. If your power outages stop, DLM will react by slowly increasing your speed over a period of a few weeks.
If the power outages do not stop the DLM will continue to react to maintain a stable connection.
This process is the same for all ISPs that use the Openreach network and it can not be over ridden.
A new contract or Smarthub will not make any difference if your problem is being caused by a poor electrical supply.
If the power outages are for a short period you could consider purchasing a UPS, Uninterruptable Power Supply, which depending on the type of UPS and price you are willing to pay would keep your BT Hub supplied with power from 30 minutes to four or five hours.

Apologies but I have no idea how to find them, can you advise me please?
The Quiet Line Test was clear.

Those are the hub stats. You are syncing at 46.42mb which appears correct for your line. What was the estimate you were given?
The estimate was 38Mb - 43Mb so I am exceeding that. I guess it is down to perception, I seem to be watching wheels go round more than I remember. Good to have it confirmed that I am worrying unnecessarily. Thanks.
