Smart hub 2 Ethernet connection low download but fine upload speed

Hope someone might be able to shine a light on this for me.

I had a FTTP install last Friday, but there was an issue with the exchange apparently which meant that the service didn't actually work until yesterday.

I have connected the Hub up, and connected my phone via wifi and my PC via ethernet. I am however experiencing a strange effect with the ethernet connection in that I am getting 30Mbps upload speed but only 24-35Mbps download speed.

The wifi is working as expected, with the speed test getting 135Mbps.

It is confusing me slightly as the connection between the PC and the hub is obviously fine due to the upload speed working as intended.

I have already turned off the smart setup on the hub, and I've changed some cables out so that everything between the router and the PC is Gb capable (including checking the duplex speeds on the PC).

Download speed has collapsed to 10Mbps via ethernet and upload speed has also gone down to 13Mbps in line with this.

Really frustrating.

Have you tried a different LAN port on the hub?

Have you tried a factory reset of the hub? Remember to turn off Smart Setup after a factory reset.

Yep, tried all three ports on the SH2. No difference.

Have also turned off smart setup and restarted it twice today. No difference.

Not done a factory reset since it is brand new and only been in use a few days.

What speed are you paying for ?, what speed tester are you using , and is it reporting in MB’s or Mb’s , if MB’s then you need to times by 8 for Mb, to eliminate the router as the issue you could connect the PC direct to the ONT and set up a PPPoE session and run a speed test without the SH2

Have done a factory reset. Speed is still only 16Mbps download and 22Mbps upload.

I am paying for a 150Mbps FTTP connection with a 100Mbps stay fast guarantee.

I am using speedtest.net (Ookla) since the BT speed tester just throws me in a login loop constantly and won't sign in. It is definitely Mbps (lower case).

I'll see if a direct connection to the ONT makes a difference.

Then, as @iniltous  suggested, try a direct wired connection to the ONT and set up a PPPoE connection to either  rule out the hub or identify another problem.
