Speed difference between BT Wholesale providers?

I was previously with Sky, where my average download speed was around 25Mbps. I recently switched to EE Broadband, where the average speed with them is around 17Mbps, and so have put in notice to cancel within their cooling off period.

This was within EE's estimate of 15-25Mbps download however as Sky's speed was substantially higher I didn't think there would be such a difference in speed.

Having looked elsewhere, since leaving Sky and moving to EE my estimated speed with all providers, including on the BT Wholesale site has increased for some reason (down and upload), with BT and Plusnet quoting a speed estimate of 20-34Mbps.

I am therefore wondering if I was to switch to BT, whether there is any likelihood for the speed to be faster than EE's, given that they are both BT Wholesale providers. I appreciate that there are a lot of local variables however I cannot see why the speed estimates should be so different.

all the ISPs are using the same openreach network with same copper wire from cab to your home so speed should be about same and maybe down to the actual router you use

It is also worth noting that on transfer G.INP is reset and can take up to 14 days to kick back in giving a speed boost.

The speed didn't improve after 10 nor 14 days; it was pretty much set from day 4 and didn't move from there.

I understand that all Openreach providers use the same line etc however this was with the same router so I did rule that out.

as @pippincp  posted you would lose your boost from G.INP when you moved providers and it will take about 14 days stable connection before DLM activates G.INP dropping noise margin to 3db and giving a boost in connection speed
