Switch to BT resulted in 10mbps loss in download sync speed

Go to solution

Hi

We foolishly fell for Vodafone’s cheaper fibre option and moved away from BT. During the 14 day cancellation period we cancelled as every night speeds would drop to 1-5 mbps rendering Netflix unwatchable. This is a well-documented problem that I had no interest in dealing with.

However on our return to BT (no engineer visit for either switch) we have lost a large chunk of our download sync speed.  We synced at 47 on the old BT and the Vodafone, but now on 37. I am using the same TP Link router I used prior to the switch.

Is there any way of getting that back? Will DLM adjust it over time?

Thanks

Jeff

Could you check MYBT and see what package you are on - fibre 1 or essential

Check for noise on your line, 17070 option 2, best with corded phone. Any noise report a phone line fault not broadband.

The dsl uptime is only 3 days is that when you originally connected router or has router been dropping connection or have you been resetting router to try and improve speed or a combination of them?

Hi

Don't have a corded phone, but my BT branded cordless phone does sound a little crackly.

I'll file a fault, thanks!

Hi

After poor connection speed with the Hub I reconnected my TP Link (5 days ago or so). One overnight drop 3 days ago as you can see and has been connected ever since.

I have deliberately not kept resetting router as I know that drives DLM crazy and is more harmful than good!

I will file the line fault and see what happens. Anything else I can try?

Thanks

Jeff
