Our village has a Community Broadband Partnership underway (with Openreach) that will deliver FTTP to our homes at the beginning of next year. The project is part-funded by a Government voucher scheme, which requires that villagers subscribe to a FTTP service as soon as the network is available. We understand that, initially, BT will be the only service provider able to deliver via the new network. We would therefore like to be able to get assurance from BT that existing broadband customers who are still in contract when the FTTP network is ready will be able to switch to a FTTP service without penalty. Can you advise how/ who to contact at BT to provide this assurance to include in FAQs that I am compiling for the benefit of our villagers? Also, will BT be able to provide a fixed IP address (or addresses) if requested to?

BT customers will be able to upgrade to FTTP without penalty.
Fixed IP addresses are only available to business customers, not residential customers.
If a fixed email address is important for some reason you could always settle for the next best thing, namely a DDNS address. These are available for free from some providers if you don't mind renewing them every 30 days or for a modest fee if you don't want to do that.
