UNDOK Roberts iStream-3

Recently moved from Virgin to BT with Smart Hub & a disc. Prior to this my UNDOK app. worked fine with the router & iStream radio. Now the radio cannot be found, despite showing as connected to the router. I have been through BT technical support & Undok too. It seems the only solution is to install a second 2.4ghz router & login our iPhones & the radio to this to use the App. Not exactly a step fowards 😢 has anyone else found a better solution?

Re: UNDOK Roberts iStream-3

Does your iPhone connect to the BT Smart hub over wi-Fi, successfully?

You could try connecting the iPhone manually, before running the UNDOK application.

Re: UNDOK Roberts iStream-3

Thanks, how would I connect the iPhone manually? I have tried the BTWifi connection from the router, this should be 2.4ghz I think but the radio does not show up on UNDOK . I believe the iStream only connects to 2.4ghz and the iPhone defaults to 5ghz

Re: UNDOK Roberts iStream-3

Yes, that worked. I screen shot the Wi-fi connection when it (randomly) connected. I then entered this manually and UNDOK found the radio immediately. However the problem is..... this is not an elegant solution 🤔

Re: UNDOK Roberts iStream-3

Looks as though you are very nearly there.

From the Hub Manager, disable the 5Ghz.... On your iPhone, clear your wi fi connection....re enter wi fi connection details. Then run UNDOC  again. Does it work on 2.4 GHz?

Re enable 5Ghz on the hub manager. Does it still work?

Re: UNDOK Roberts iStream-3

Well, it worked when 5ghz was turned off. Worked when I turned it back on. However once I disconnected Wi-fi & reconnected again on the iPhone it was gone. This I think because iPhones will always prefer 5ghz & Roberts, at least this one, iStream-3 only connects at 2.4ghz. So far I am stuck at manually connecting Wi-fi to enable UNDOK to find the radio.

Re: UNDOK Roberts iStream-3

I think there was a post in this forum that suggested that device on a 5Ghz network couldn't cross over to see a device on the 2.4GHz network.

Once solution is to 'forget' the 5Ghz password for your network on the iphone, so the iphone will only be able to connect to the 2.4GHz network

Re: UNDOK Roberts iStream-3

hi Lynda, the PW for 5ghz & 2.4ghz is the same as far as I can see, also you can’t “see” which channel you are connected to. I spoke to BT who said one solution would be to disable 5ghz but the internet & bandwidth would be heavily compromised on 2.4ghz only.

Which was disproved as I can connect to a 2.4Ghz only printer with a 5GHz connected laptop. I think others reported the same.

Re: UNDOK Roberts iStream-3

I think that the problem lies with the iPhone and the Smart Hub...You can’t separate the 2.4ghz  and 5Ghz connection, either on iOS or hub. BT are correct in this and suggest disabling the 5Ghz on the hub. Pity the Roberts doesn’t connect at 5Ghz!
