Unable to split channels on BT SmartHub 2 - what are my alternatives?
Hi to all. I would be so grateful for your help. I have had a BT SmartHub2 for over a year, and it works fine. However, my father who comes to stay with me regularly is unable to get to grips with the light switches in the house, and I want to use my Echo to use voice-activated light bulbs. This requires use of the 2.4Ghz band, but the SmartHub cannot pick it up automatically. I was going to split the channels but the BT website says that the SmartHub 2 does not support channel splitting. What can I do? Will a new, more recent SmartHub enable channel splitting? Or is there another solution?
My thanks in advance
Andie

Temporarily turn off the 5Ghz signal until the Smart bulbs connect to the Hub at 2.4Ghz and then re-instate the 5Ghz.

You could use one of these to create a seperate SSID that is 2.4 GHz only

Or the superior TP Link version https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/powerline/tl-wpa4220-kit/

That sounds like a great step - do you have any idea how I implement it? I assumed that the inability to split channels meant that I could not disable either channel.
