Upgrading from Home Hub 5 to Home Hub 6

Go to solution

I currently have a Home Hub 5 running and connected to 4 (White) Whole Home Discs.

Apart from the perennial problem of the discs passwords not being recognised so I can't configure them using the app. everything talks to everything else OK. I also have a home cinema also connected wirelessly to one of the discs which was not an easy set up because of the disc non password recognition.

My question is this - If I swap my Home Hub 5 for a Home Hub 6 will I need to go through the laborious task of reconnecting all the discs and projector to the new hub of will they be recognised automatically?

Why do you want to swap your hub 5 for a hub6?

Because it was sent to me as an upgrade from BT and I assume that it's better?

Tell me if it's not and it'll save me a lot of hassle I think!

I am sure @licquorice  will agree, if its not broken, then do not try to fix it.  The HH5 is just fine, especially as you are using a separate wireless network anyway.

Changing it for the HH6, is likely to result in a lot of hassle. The HH6 is supposed to have better  stand alone wireless coverage, that is all.

Personally speaking, I considered the HH6 to be a downgrade on the HH5.

The HH5 just sat there and did what it's supposed to do - no drama, the HH6 on the other hand ...... I'll have to stop there as forum rules don't allow me to use expletives.

Don't believe all the marketing hype, if your hub5 is working, don't change it

Thanks for all your responses guys. I'll leave the Hub 6 in its box.

I recently upgraded to BT Halo with a Smart Hub 2.

I purchased a set of three Whole Home discs independently and had no trouble setting them up up via the Whole Home app.

This is the second time I have used the Whole Home discs and have never had a problem setting them up via the app.
