I have a spare bt business smart hub from work. Can i use this at my home on bt residential broadband and take advantage of the bridge mode option that only business hubs have?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Yes
thank you
will i just have to use the same username login details from my current homehub and put that in the business hub?
currently on the business hub it set to : btbusinesshub@business.btclick.com
also will the hub still receive future updates and won’t write over the business hub modem mode settings?
yes you need to use the normal residential login bthomehub@btbroadband.com and any password
updates should be ok and automatic
Surely if you are using it in the modem only mode, then PPPoE authentication would be done on your own separate router?
I have fibre 1 service which is fttc (max 80mb)
will i need PPPoA or PPPoE settings for my new router?
and where would i get these settings from?
PPPoE, not sure what you mean by 'where would I get those settings from'
Ok so this is what im trying to do
use bt busines hub in modem modem and connect my linksys velop and use that as the router
so on the bt hub i change the username to the residential one and on the velop i use PPPoE?
No, the PPPoE username and password are entered on the Linksys. No credentials are required on the hub as a modem. If there is a setting on the hub for VLANid, set it to 101
