We have just gone with BT live today and was quoted 50 down 10up (that was only package could select)but what is odd is sky and sse our last two providers got around 65down and 18 up. Done a speedtest today and capped at 50 down and 10 up, was hoping this would be a minimum speed and would get what we did with our past providers same line to same cabinet could some one please explain what is going on thank you.

What package are you on with BT? If it's F1 it will be capped at that speed. Can you also post the results from the below checker (remember to remove phone number before posting)
enter your address and post results not as accurate as phone number but your new BT number will not work for a few days
https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the stats from your router (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser) and if HH5 then go to troubleshooting then helpdesk and if HH6/SH2 then advanced settings then technical log information .
Checker suggest range 70-53mb
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
Also please confirm what BT package you have, I suspect it's only fibre 1 based on what you've said earlier
Yes the picture shows what's available but Fibre 1 is capped @ 55 max so if you're on that you'll be capped
BT seem to be overly conservative with which packages they offer, I guess they have received too many complaints from folks paying for fibre 2 speeds when they had absolutely no chance of getting them.
