Why have BT installed telegraph poles along road where all houses have BT connections underground?

Go to solution

All houses and bungalows in the road have had BT underground connections since the late 1980s.  The old telegraph poles were removed at the same time. This week, 35 years later,  a series of telegraph poles have been installed along the road. No one knows what is going on but residents are worried about what is being planned and how it will affect their properties.  There has been no communication from BT. Any one know what is happening and how will it affect residents?

You are asking a question in the wrong place , ‘ BT Consumer’ don’t install telegraph poles, they may belong to Openreach, but there are many other network providers , many of which also use overhead wiring…usually ( with Openreach at least ) the poles have a notice attached , and although it doesn’t say what the poles are to be used for, it does give information about appealing the decision to site the poles there.

I suspect the pole erecting is to do with the role out of Fibre to the Premises. I noticed that is how service is being supplied now. Many of the older housing estates had their phone service delivered by a direct in ground armoured cable,  basically the cable is not In a duct.

This causes problems and expense it getting fibre to customers.
