Wired internet speed

I got fibre 2 installed last week in a new build house, primarily to ensure I had decent internet speed for playing games online. My wifi speed is generally pretty poor between 25 to 30 mbps so I got a BT mini connector to wire my playstation to the router which is a room away. The speed is absoloutely terrible on it and it is achieving about 8mbps which is pretty unusable. When I run the speed test on the BT site it says my router is getting 74mbps so I'm not sure where the problem is. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Re: Wired internet speed

So btspeedtester shows you are getting 74mb but some other method showing download of 8mb - is that a download speed as you download a file ?

is it possible you are getting your bits and bytes mixed up
