Thankfully things are moving for my FTTH install after the virus decided to visit the UK and stop all installs. Obviously there are delays and my engineer visit for FTTH is due beginning of July (as this was the earliest date). However, yesterday someone came to pull what I assume is the FO cable up through the ground after pulling off the white cover that usually covers the current cable. It's currently sitting in a black loop under my electricity meter with delightful yellow tape decorating it. I only found out because the dogs barked so I looked outside and saw it there!
As the white cover is still lying there leaving the hole exposed, I'm wondering if they need to do more before next month or if this is normal for the timeframe and should we try to put the cover back on to prevent water getting in the hole in the meantime?
Solved! Go to Solution.
You can put the cover back if you want. Be careful not to damage the FO cable.
Trust me, the duct network and joint boxes are already full of every type of liquid known to man so I really wouldn’t worry about it.
