does BT infinity over fiber still need a landline?

Go to solution

Hi,

I have BT infinity broadband and I recently moved to a property with FTTP. My router is connected via the fibre modem. I'm not subscribed to a fibre broadband account, but do I still need a landline for this property in order to keep the infinity broadband? I'm guessing not as it's all on fibre now, but wanted to check if BT has small print on using the fibre without paying a fibre subscription, or they'll just throttle the regular infinity broadband and I can get rid of the land line?

Thanks for any help.

Depends what you mean by 'Landline'.

Broadband needs a line of some description to arrive at your premises, be that fibre or copper which will incur a line rental charge. It is no longer necessary to have telephony service with broadband if that is what you mean.

thanks.  yes, sorry - overloaded term "landline".  I see that the landline rental is still required for the connection.
