Afternoon
I recently moved to BT and internet works fine on all wifi devices however my PC is not working - it is plugged into the downstairs telephone line that was working fine with the previous provider ( was v quick internet ) . It is v v slow . Do I need to do anything else so the direct connection works for the PC . I have not touched the PC at all so cables should be fine .
Tks

Your PC doesn't plug into the phone line, it plugs into the BT Hub
Are you sure the PC was plugged into a phone socket previously and not an Ethernet socket? If it is an Ethernet socket, there will be a corresponding Ethernet socket next to your hub that needs to be connected to the hub. It would have been connected to your old router previously.
Crikey, you weren't still on dial up were you ?
Thank you - I think that is the issue. Its not a phone line downstiars but an ethernet socket .tks
I'm backward but not that backward!
It's possible that your PC had been manually set with the router's IP address (along with it's own IP address) - typically 192.168.1.1 - and that the BT router uses a different address. BT use 192.168.1.254 for the router whereas many others use the one above.
If this is the case then the PC will never see the internet so you need to change the network adapter settings to overcome this.
