My telephone ran this morning at 8.04 - on answering, it turned out to be BT telling me that I had messages in my 1571 system. I pressed "1" to hear my messages to find it was from a 1980's BT robot telling me in a quavery voice that an email I had set up would be close down unless I used it soon.
I pressed "3" to delete this - and turned to my emails, there finding an email at 8.04 from BT on my main account telling me that the unwanted email account would be closed down. There had been no direct "voice-mail" call from BT.
These nonsense calls from BT began after the recent improvement to 1570 - which used to be a good service, worth paying for.
I regard telephone calls before 9am as likely to be of an emergency nature (such as family stuff). My number is withheld and ex-directory so calls will be from a very limited number of people.
Is there any way I can turn off these "voice-mail" calls from BT or shall I save myself £3.50 a month by cancelling the "service"?
