Access control?

Go to solution

I want to restrict wifi access to a child's phone. Logging onto the Home Hub 2 (I think) it tells me I now need the app. I go to the play store and seems it won't work on an S23 (not exactly a rare phone!). I go to my BT and none of the stated help instructions are there, it's completely different.

Why has something that used to be so simple made so complicated now? Can someone please advise how I can disallow access after 9pm to a phone?

Thanks

Re: Access control?

There seems to be a problem with the App and access controls.

I have the app but after accessing the Smarthub's manaement pages and clicking on the Access Control section it opens a page informing me that I need to use the app which is what I am using.

It is the same when using the webpage to access the hub.

I have informed the moderators about this asking them to comment on this thread regarding the problem.

Reference my post above.

I have now found that you must turn on "Wifi Security" within the app first which will then allow access to the "Access Controls"in the app.

It does seem a bit of a faff. Why not just have one route to access the "Access Controls".

@roger06

If you are still unable to load the MyBT app you should contact the developers at my.bt.app.support@bt.com who should be able to assist.

Re: Access control?

Hi there @roger06

Thanks for coming to the community.

I can see @gg30340 has provided help to access the controls, you can find more information in our How do I use BT access controls help page.

If this is not showing and you're unable to access the WiFi access controls, please get in touch and our broadband tech guides will be happy to help.

Leanne.

Thanks. It was very unclear I needed the My BT app - there's a BT Hub app on the Play Store so I assumed it was that.

@roger06

Are you sure the BT Hub app you downloaded was a genuine BT app? I have not found a BT Hub app in the Playstore other than one operated by "Binal Tech...." which does not appear to be a BT company app and if it is it would appear to be aimed at company users.
