Can I ask whether a smart hub is able to become infected with Malware and how would you scan for it?
Visitors over the holiday used my Wi-Fi and I’m getting a few random disconnects now - probably a coincidence but got me thinking.

Totally coincidental.
You could try a factory reset either through the pinhole in the back or through the hub manager if disconnections become unmanageable/intolerable.
