Hello,
I am upgrading to new WIFI Mesh 6 and I was going to pass on my 3 discs (AC2600) white whole home wifi mesh system to my neighbour.
The neighbour's broadband supplier is not BT. Will this be a problem. I assume since the first disc is plugged into the back of the broadband router and then the additional discs are meshed to first. Does the broadband supplier and router make model matter to re-use the BT whole home white discs?
Do I need to factory reset the discs and re-add them using the BT whole home android app?
many thanks
regards
Solved! Go to Solution.
The whole point of the Whole Home discs is that they are agnostic to router and service provider.
Factory reset and set them up from scratch.
thanks, just wanted to check - because if it was not possible for it to be re-used I was not going to waste money on a new wifi 6 mesh.
One question.
The ac2600 white wholehome wifi mesh is currently connected to BT home router. First disc is connected via a network patch cable.
Without factory resetting the discs if i just removed network oatch cable from bt home router and plugged into toob broadband router, would this work. SSID would remain bt whole home etc. All 192.168.1.* network..... just trying to understand simplest approach
Thanks
Try it and see.
Thanks - since the first disc was connected via a hardwire - the discs formed a ssid between them. So when I just connected the first disc to the toob fibre linksys SPMX4200 router and rebooted the discs - I was able to connect to BT WholeHOME SSID without an issue. This was awesome because I did not have to go round all the amazon devices, TV, security cameras etc and point it to a new WIFI SSID.
So in essence just connect to new router and reboot discs!
