BT Whole Home disks go red all the time

I've got a BT Whole system with 3 disks. One is connected directly to the hub, and two other ones are set up in different rooms.

For more than two years after the initial purchase, everything had worked perfectly. However, in the last month or so, I've been experiencing one or both additional disks going solid red for no obvious reason. That happens every few days. Hard reset or firmware updates do not help. The only thing that works is to bring the affected disk down to the hub and connect it directly with an Ethernet cable, and once it's solid blue again, return it to its original spot. But honestly I'm tired of doing that once or twice every week.

Is there anything I could do to bring back the old smooth experience where my internet connection just worked? Or should I start shopping for a different mesh networking solution?

I believe the 2 remote discs communicate with the hard-wired disc. So there could be a problem with the hard-wired disc. Try swapping them. Do you get a good wifi signal next to the hard-wired disc?

Re: BT Whole Home disks go red all the time

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried swapping the hard-wired disk with one of the other one, but unfortunately that didn't help. The disk that had been hard-wired prior to the swap went solid red on the next day.

@beeteeenjoyer

It would be best to give the WHW product helpdesk a call on 0808 100 6116 ( Mon to Fri 9am to 5.30pm and Sat 9am to 2pm) or drop them an email to: btconnectedhome@bt.com and they'll be happy to help.

Not sure whether you are using a BT Home Hub as the router, if you are, then a full factory reset of the home hub may fix the problem, as its probably run out of internal allocations.

Re: BT Whole Home disks go red all the time

I'm running five of the mini Whole Home discs. Every so often (once every one or two months), the network starts to act up and the indicators on all discs turn red, including the disc hard-wired to the router. I can still connect to the network, but it's temperamental and drops connections regularly. I can still get to the main disc's web page and restart the network, which then recovers and works fine until the next time.

So, not too big an issue, but annoying nonetheless.
