Data on a digital voice phone and how to recycle

My husband has a bt digital voice cordless handset that has died and he wants to get rid of it, but we don't know whether there will be anything that's been stored on it that will need deleting first and, if so, how to do it. Also how is it best to get rid of it? Can it be returned to BT somehow or should it go to the electrical bin at local council recycle centre?

If you are BT customers you can get a replacement for it I would imagine alternatively you could ask for a free returns bag to send back via the post office (keep proof of postage until BT acknowledge they have it back)

As for data on the phone it would only be call history and contacts but if the phone has had it then that's not an issue anyway.

Contacts are not stored on the handset, they are stored on the hub.

Before you bin the phone have you tried replacing the rechargeable batteries as there are numerous posts where the problem was solved by new batteries. You could try just using ordinary batteries to see if that brings phone back to life as long as you don't put on chaeger

BT do not list the Digital Phone as an item that will be charged for if not returned.

They were initially given as a free item but that is no longer the case.

Just take it to your local recycle centre.
