New contract - been with BT 40+ years in same cottage with thick walls - old copper line. Anyway Monday new contract and everything stopped - no landline.
They changed me to Digital without explaining what was happening. (I am 80 years of age so ... all new to me)
Countless phone calls - fed up with music and wait times but had to put up with it. Engineer Tuesday, Engineer Wednesday - new hub, etc, etc,. I kept saying I think they have cut me off at the exchange and not reconnected me.
Today - Open Reach and yes basically I was right so back on!!!
Now I realize my Digital Broadband Extender 600 does not work? So just phoned up the help line and he said put it straight into another wall socket. I said the light doesn't come on and he said it is broken and you cannot get new ones of these - could look for second hand!?
So my question is what is out there now that could help me - Digital? compatible.
Any help will be appreciated - thank you.
It may be becaue you were given a new hub and your extender needs reset.
Try a factory reset then set it up again as per the "User Guide" in the following link.
I suspect you have not had a reply here because it is not clear what you mean by “Digital” and so your question is not very clear.
Is this “Digital” just the phone service changing from the old copper line service (the PSTN) to new Digital Voice service (DV). (If so, DV will work over the old copper lines. It does not require Full Fibre as a lot of people seem to think).
Or…
…are you talking about being moved to a Full Fibre broadband connection? (The latter will involve an engineer coming and fitting a new box with lights on the wall).
Either way, I don’t see how it affects the extenders. I’m not familiar with the Broadband Extender 600s but a quick Google suggests they are just powerline adapters. If that is the case, they should be compatible as they are effectively nothing to do with either of the changes above.
If they have been disconnected, it may just be that they need setting up again. Do you still have the instructions for them?
Edit: Ha, ha... I see gg30340 beat me to it. People keep doing that lately.
