I have recently signed up to Paramount+ but can't get it on the apps through the BT box. I read that this is because I have an old MyView box, where it doesn't work, but that it will work if I had the new EE box. I want to know if I can change the box but still keep the same TV package I have already, without needing to change my TV package or contract.
I'm sure you would have said so, so forgive me for asking, but is your TV a smart TV? Can you download the Paramount+ App onto your TV? Or, do you have an Amazon Firestick or similar that you could download the App onto and log in and watch it? I personally don't subscribe to ISP TV packages, so I'm not entirely sure how it all works with the provided equipment you get and the way you log in and watch the channels you're paying for.
You would probably need to call BT CS and request a new box otherwise, especially if the old equipment is no longer fit for purpose.
Yes, it is a smart TV but turns out you can’t add it to those made before 2018.
I do have a firestick and may resort to that but wanted to find out first off if I could get an upgraded box with no change to my contract.
And therein lies the problem. If you call BT and explain the issue, before you know it, you'll get your new TV Box and probably a new 2 year contract only this time signed up to EE (I'm literally just guessing!)
It's probably far less hassle just using a Firestick.
You would need to call BT 0330.1234.150 and ask if you would get a new box with out a new contract. I doubt you will but for sure you won't get one if you don't ask.
Ring them....just explain you're paying for a tv service that you're not able to enjoy fully as your current tv box isn't up to the job.
Pretty sure they'll send out a new box.
Either way once you're current tv end's you'll have to negotiate a new tv deal anyway.
If the box you have doesn't have paramount plus it must be an older one - I would personally call tech support and ask nicely - I'm sure they would replace it - the older boxes are sometimes starting to have issues where they don't power on from what I've read, I'm sure BT would be happy to get ahead of the possible problem
