BT email app only shows one week's emails

Go to solution

I use the BT email app on my Android phone. I've used BT email for years and if I use a different device (ipad, PC etc.) I can scroll way back to quite old emails, but the phone email app shows just the last few days emails. I have re-installed the app today but it doesn't make any difference. However I have found that I can look at previous emails by entering a search term. Conversation view is unticked. Any ideas? Perhaps there is a limit imposed by the phone's storage but it has 128 Gb storage and this is less than half used.

Hi @garth1948

Thanks for getting in touch with us here in the BT Community and telling us about this.

I can imagine it must be frustrating for you when the BT app is only showing the last few days of emails.

Could you try following these steps, then let me know how you get on please?

  1. Open the Email app.
  2. Go to Settings (usually via the menu button).
  3. Select your BT Email Account.
  4. Look for Sync settings or Days to sync.
  5. Set it to All or No Limit.

Re: BT email app only shows one week's emails

Hi,

Thanks for your response. I can’t find the setting you suggest via “settings” in the BT email app, but if I look at my phone settings for my bt account under “accounts and sync” then I am offered the following options:

Sync email for this account - set to yes

Sync frequency - every 15 mins

Since my original posting, I have set up a gmail email account and included my bt email account for gmail to monitor. This works fine.

i have also found that if I scroll back slowly with the BT app, I can go further back in time, but after about 40 seconds the emails will reset to showing the latest ones again, so there must be a setting somewhere in my Android Xaomi Redmi Note 10S phone which refreshes the BT email app display after a set amount of time. This doesn’t happen with the gmail app showing my bt emails. Instead after loading several weeks worth of emails, I get asked to “load more” and this works fine. BT email app is version 25.2.3. Android version 13 TPIA 220624.014. No further Android updates expected.

Hi @garth1948

What happens if you clear the cache (not data) on the BT Email app? Does it work better?

The phone email app isn't likely to be affected by the storage limit, but there could be other settings that are affecting it, such as Battery Optimisation. Try changing to no restrictions:
Tap Settings > Apps > Find BT Email > Battery > Set to No restrictions (or Don't optimise)

If you're still having problems, I recommend speaking to our Email support team, so they can check everything from our side.
